Sales Associate Interact with general public in courteous and professional manner and make the Goodwill experience one that invites them back by assisting them with merchandise selection, uggestive selling and cashiering. Sales Associate I: new hires, persons with less than 1 year of experience and knowledge in limited portions of cashiering and customer service. Job Responsibilities: To be proactive with our customers by acknowledging their presence, greeting them, offering to help them find items of interest, suggesting specials for the day. Assist customers/donors in a timely and courteous manner by directing them to the appropriate area or offering to take their donation to the receiving area. Answer customer questions or direct them to someone who can. Aggressive acknowledgment of customers within your area and throughout the store. Responsible for merchandising in any department, including displays, and restocking the department without supervision. Ensure that the store and surrounding premises are kept clean and free of safety hazards. Putting away merchandise and general floor maintenance assisting where needed. Responsible for handling cash, checks, credit card transactions, closing out cash drawer, balancing all transactions and keeping register areas clean and fully supplied. Responsible for training new hires on the basics of Goodwill store operations. (II,III) Responsible for familiarity with production area operations. Maintain good attendance record and fulfill the scheduled hours. Internal/external customer service skills are essential for all job functions. Perform any other duties as assigned Requirements: Ability to work flexible hours with varying days off and some holidays scheduled. Ability to handle difficult situations under hectic and stressful conditions in a professional manner. Ability to work in a fast paced environment, think independently while following company policy and procedure while being flexible. Ability to work from daily schedules, verbal, written directions as well. Good communication skills to direct the daily store operations. Ability to work either independently or as a team member in a culturally diversified workplace. Ability to efficiently and accurately ring out customers at the register. Education and experience based on level above. Essential Job Functions: Must be able to: lift, and carry for short distances, up to 35-100 lbs. Must be able to stand on concrete floor for up to 8 hours/day. Be able to work in a dusty environment. Must have well-developed fine motor control and the ability to grasp, handle, finger and manipulate small and large items. Must have full range of body motion with the ability to reach above head, stoop, bend, and squat. Must be able to: perform repetitive fine motor functions with fingers, wrists and arms, without pain or loss of function. Able to travel across a wide variety of surfaces including, but not limited to, ramps, stairs, and uneven terrain. Able to use a standard telephone and wireless audio communication system; sit or stand for moderately long periods of time, communicate clearly and effectively with a wide variety of people, including those with limited English skills. Must be able to maintain reliable attendance. Reports to: Retail Supervisor Terms of Employment: This is a full-time non-exempt position.
